From October 7–8 in Austin, Centurisk brought together RiskStar risk management software users from risk pools and states across the country for two days of learning, networking, and inspiration at RiskStar Illuminate 2025.
Watch the Highlights
Relive the energy from this year’s event in our short recap video below:
A lively start at Electric Shuffle
The conference kicked off with a welcome reception at Electric Shuffle, a popular Austin entertainment spot, where guests enjoyed shareable bites, great drinks, and plenty of friendly competition. The reception set the perfect tone for the days ahead, bringing people together to reconnect, share ideas, and swap stories before diving into the sessions.

More than software
The conversations, questions, and camaraderie throughout the event served to move both RiskStar and the industry forward.
During First Light: Welcome & Kickoff, Centurisk leaders highlighted how customer partnerships are guiding the evolution of RiskStar. Sessions that followed, including RiskStar: What’s New and Importing and Exporting in RiskStar: Excel Tips & Tricks, turned that message into action with hands-on learning and practical takeaways teams could apply right away.
Customer-led sessions were another highlight. Lucia Espinoza from Texas Association of Counties shared how her team turns reporting into a storytelling tool in Reporting That Delivers, while Paul Schwegel of Aegis, LLC, offered insights on Driving Member Adoption and the strategies that build buy-in and engagement.
“As someone who was resistant to change, I came away with a greater impression of the product and company as a whole and a newfound willingness to learn. I’m excited about the possibilities ahead as we grow and streamline our workflows.”
– Cathy Perry, Association of Arkansas Counties
Collaboration in action
Some of the best moments happened between sessions—during coffee breaks, lunch, and happy hours—where users compared notes, shared ideas, and built new connections.
“Networking with other pools and making the connections… The face-to-face interactions with the Centurisk team just add to their already fantastic customer service. I think this is starting to become a lost art.”
– Cory Olson, North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund
This kind of exchange is what makes the RiskStar community so strong. Built for risk pools and states, by risk pools and states, RiskStar continues to evolve because of customer ideas and feedback.
Ideas that spark progress
Later in the afternoon, attendees joined the Interactive Roadmap Showdown, where the Centurisk team invited live feedback on what’s ahead for 2026. These open, collaborative sessions drive Centurisk’s product innovation and keep RiskStar evolving alongside the needs of its users.
“What a wonderful event! Well thought out, well prepared, and very well presented. Everyone there was so willing to share their knowledge.”
– Cathy Perry, Association of Arkansas Counties
A view to remember
To close out the learning day, attendees gathered at P6, a rooftop restaurant overlooking Town Lake and the downtown Austin skyline. The evening was filled with great food, meaningful conversation, and a sense of celebration for two invigorating days of connection and learning.

Looking ahead
RiskStar Illuminate 2025 may be over, but the ideas, relationships, and inspiration that began in Austin are just getting started. The feedback gathered throughout the event will help guide upcoming enhancements and new initiatives designed to make RiskStar even more powerful for the customers who shape it.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, shared your expertise, and helped make this year’s event such a success. Together, we’re lighting the way to smarter risk management.
