In today’s business, risk lurks around every corner. Catastrophic weather conditions, economic flux, cyberthreats… All of them, villains born for bedlam! But in every organization, there are those brave heroes who protect and defend. These are the beacons of loss prevention…. The long ARMs that guard the landscape from loss exposure and harm. We turn to them when the skies darken, the insurance property schedules are due, and the scent of panic is in the air.
So, in the spirit of summer blockbusters, we’ve pulled together some comic book crusaders likely to work in the risk management industry. You may recognize some of these mighty mitigators of menace, or you might just be one of them! Check out our super-squad below:
Name: The Forecaster
Powers and abilities: This predictor of peril can see beyond day-to-day property risk management challenges because they soar above it all, eagle eye fixed on the latest risk and insurance trends. Their sharp gaze targets which factors are affecting property values — like construction costs, inflation, world events and other dynamics. This keen vision helps them leap ahead to the most probable outcomes, alert the team, and more accurately trend property values, despite the catastrophe and chaos.
Gadgets/Tech: Centurisk’s Property Valuation Estimator can extend the Forecaster’s abilities even further. When it’s configured to a particular organization’s unique needs, this modeling tool uses property-specific modifiers to benchmark values or trend them in years without an onsite appraisal. Talk about powerful!
Name: Mitigation Mage
Powers and Abilities: This is the hero that team members turn to when they seek great wisdom or wish to peer into a property’s past. The Mage has been with the organization for, well, possibly centuries — no one’s really sure — and their gigantic brain contains institutional knowledge from the beginning of time. When was the last time that roof was upgraded? And what’s its construction class rating? Did we run it through catastrophe modeling? Where’s the documentation for that? The Mage knows. The Mage knows all.
Gadgets/Tech: Even when the Mage has a rare forgetful moment, it’s no problem. Centurisk’s RiskStar property risk management software can automatically track any updates made to the property database, creating a history of what was changed, when, and by whom. Just pretend you don’t notice our hero using the software under their Cloak of Insight; they do have a reputation to uphold, you know.
Name: Reportron
Powers and abilities: As the team’s tech-savvy savior, Reportron knows the organization’s risk management information system so well, they’ve melded with it. Valuation variance data… Building details… member and site information… data update summaries… Reportron’s grasp of safely accessing and dispersing mission-critical database info is unmatched. What’s more, this unique cyborg can create a comprehensive property risk management report, with relevant fields, in the blink of an eye. Wherever mitigation-based C-level decisions are made, Reportron is there, generating the mighty analysis the team depends on.
Gadgets/Tech: When Reportron is too busy battling risk — or on vacation — the report auto-scheduler in Centurisk’s RiskStar software can prove handy. It sends members of your favorite super-team the reports they need before they even realize they need them. Just select the user to receive the report and how often the system should email it. Because let’s face it, even cyborg superheroes deserve a day off now and then.
Name: DocuMaestro
Powers and abilities: This dynamo of data derring-do manages property data like no one else. They stand fearlessly when crowds of risk pool members or government entities all rush forward to report their property schedule updates at once. DocuMaestro has extra sharp listening skills, boundless patience, and can meticulously document information at an inhuman speed. DocuMaestro works closely with their youthful sidekick, Red Flag, to keep the database clean and secure.
Gadgets/Tech: DocuMaestro maintains their calm through confusion by leveraging Centurisk’s RiskStar for property data storage and management. Entering updates in the system keeps whatever data comes at them in one easy-to-use repository. And its automatic tracking and asset history allows them to track what information has changed and when. Trivia: prior to using RiskStar, DocuMaestro went by the name Sergeant Spreadsheet.
Name: Red Flag
Powers and abilities: This detail-oriented defender of data quality can catch a misspelled district name at 100 paces and recognize a mistake in square footage just from the sound of the typing. Using their special Critical-Thinking Cap, Red targets property data inconsistencies across the organization, and their Spotight of Truth illuminates these potential fallacies for the whole team to examine and bring safely to justice.
Gadgets/Tech: The team doesn’t talk about it much, but Red Flag’s Spotlight of Truth is really the Highlight feature in the RiskStar software. It lets you search on your chosen value parameters — like square footages above or below a certain value — and compare them to check for outliers, highlighting them in any color you like for easy viewing. (You can guess which one is Red’s favorite.)
